253 quizzers named in the attachment jogged
to the start line of the annual quizzing marathon on Saturday.
Well done to Gary Patterson who arrived with seven minutes to spare.
There are 25 debutants, identified by capitals.
Welcome to the Maughan family, to recruiters Rob Filby, Ed Cook, Wendy Mulhern
and special praise to Bernadette Challener
who has enlisted much of the scattered Powys population.
Well done to the 87 clever clogs who were off the mark instantly
by predicting THREE English tries.
The second column is the tie break, not relevant till November.
Some absences-the Fleets have left port, the Medleys have not joined the choir,
we are short of a Short, the International Rogers clan are missing their Welsh branch.
If you can’t find a friend, colleague or relative you expected to see listed,
reassure them they remain in our hearts and archives.
You have again been so remarkably generous as a collective.
The first £1,000 went to Macmillan last week.
I hope in the perpetual chaos enveloping Quiz HQ,we found time to thank you individually.
Quiz HQ resolutely refuses to get involved with online banking,
so we won’t know the final total till March.
Prizes are known-£225 1st,£113 2nd,£75 bronze and £37 for the Oval Ball.
The debutants will of course find themselves in the Debutants’ Ball mini league.
There are several English counties that merit a mini league,
like Suffolk,Cornwall,Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, birthplace of the quiz.
Expats,Lononers and Scots have leagues,
Bernadette has ensured that the Welsh League is especially cut throat.
More difficult are the secret connections, the Impalas, the workmates,
groups with no shared address or surname.
If you think you deserve a mini league(and you do)
go the website www.snedsquiz.net next weekend
and set one up(If I can do it,so can you)
If it beats you, send me a list of names and a suggested title.
Quiz Hq but more importantly Webmaster Henry are standing by
GOOD LUCK
