All this while we were catching breath or drying tears after Wimbledon and Euros.
But no, the Olympics are but hours away
and a reminder if you feel that Byron Grote and Garry Mahon, our joint leaders,
are disappearing over the horizon
that Byron and Garry like you are on zero in the Olympics section.

Each year about thirty new quizzers join the quiz.

Often I don’t know who introduced the newbies.
One such was Brian Daley.
Over the years, I noticed the growing number of quizzers called Daley.
In January, Brian asked me to set up a mini league.
Easy peasy I thought
but his astonishing list included most of the population of Penarth,
several others names across the country, including Maggie H,our speedway correspondent
Brian’s MBE spoke of a life well lived,
his friends speak of boundless generosity with his time and affection.
At Quiz HQ,we appreciated Brian’s jolly emails and eye watering donations.
The news of Brian’s passing in the springtime will be a sadness to many.
