Would/should the Prediction Quiz become the latest Covid casualty?I must admit I have given it some frustrated thought as I sorted through all the delays and cancellations in recent months.
Then I thought of my contact at Macmillan.He rang me in June to tell me he’d been put on furlough as fundraising events had collapsed.I recently saw a similar story on the front cover of the Daily Express, a rare case of me believing anything in that paper.Perhaps that makes the Prediction more important in 2021as we remember that cancer will kill three times more people in 2020 than Covid.
What to include? How much money would you place right now on a Tokyo Olympics in July 2021?Even Pangloss Johnson seems to be taking the long view now.There will be sport in 2021.Some big sports have plainly adjusted to playing in a bio bubble in front of TV cameras.Some events like the Tour de France might be too important to the national psyche to cancel.
As ever ,I ask for your suggestions for intriguing predictions,
and, more important, for your continued support in January.Thanks for your understanding when, arbitrarily, I cut 2020 prizes and changed questions when I thought the odds were about the same.
